Mount Abu is the only hill station in the Sirohi District of Rajasthan State. It’s situated amidst lush green, forested hills on the highest peak in the Aravali range, the cool and soothing climate makes it an ideal retreat for the tourists.

When to Visit- the best time to visit Mount Abu is between November to March. This is the winter season, which is the peak tourism season of Mount Abu. The monsoon is also a great time to plan a trip as you shall be able to enjoy the scenic beauty of Aravali hills.

How to Reach- The distance from New Delhi to Mount Abu is 810 KM you can reach Mount abu either by road, rail & air. Here’s how-

By Road- There are several buses which can be boarded from Tis Hazari/ Karol bagh/ Morigate, Delhi which shall take you to Abu road. (The fare ranges from INR 1200- 1800), from Abu Road to reach Mount Abu (Distance-28 KM, fare is INR 100/ Person if you board local jeep) however there is connectivity of local buses also which run from time to time, you can book private cab too which shall cost you somewhere around INR 800)

By Train- There is proper connectivity of trains from New Delhi/ Sarai Rohilla/ Delhi cantt/ Gurugram to Abu road station. if you are planning a weekend trip from Delhi then I would suggest to book Rajdhani as it runs around 8 pm from Delhi & would drop you early morning at Abu road, However fare shall be costlier compared to normal trains but you will be able to utilize time in apt way.

By Air- The Nearest airport to Mount Abu is Udaipur, From Udaipur you may book a bus or a cab to reach Mount Abu. The Bus would take approx 3 hours, Distance from Udaipur to Mount Abu is 165 KM.

Where to Stay- If you are planning a weekend trip to Mount Abu, I would suggest you pre-book the hotels as during weekend prices of hotels are expected to shoot up. Generally, you would find different prices on week days compared to weekends.

I would suggest you should stay nearby Delwara (Distance to Mount Abu is 2 km). you will find here comparatively low priced hotel with good amenities. We stayed in B Panchvati (the stay was nice and at reasonable price). Another good hotel which we explored as Mushkil Aasan which can also be explored.

How to Explore- There are bikes/ scooty available on rent (Price is 500/ Day) also you can book local taxi’s which shall cost you around INR 1800 -2000 for full package)

What to Explore-

Delwara Temple- One of the most beautiful and sacred pilgrimage of Jains in the world. Located just 2.5 km from Mount Abu, Rajasthan. Dilwara temples justifies the beauty of Mount Abu.it’s also known to have excellent architecture and incredible work of marble carvings.

Toad Rock- It’s located south of Nakki Lake in Mount Abu. it is a colossal rock piece which looks like a toad about to jump into the waters of the lake. Known as the mascot of Mount Abu, this is one of the most frequented points in the itinerary of all visitors, However to reach there you will have to do bit of trek.

Honeymoon Point- Located at the backdrop of Old Mount Abu Gateway and Nakki Lake, Anadara Point or Honeymoon Point is a must-visit tourist attraction spot, providing impeccable views of the sun, prospectively setting down the skyline. During Monsoon season, views are pretty amazing too.

Nakki Lake- This picture perfect lake is surrounded by mountains, gardens and rock formations. The monsoon season is the best time to enjoy the enchanting views of this pool with your loved ones. It is the only Indian artificial lake which is situated at a height of 1200 km above sea level.

Trevor’s Tank- Trevor’s Tank, a man-made crocodile breeding place and wildlife refuge, is located 5 km from the centre of Mount Abu town. It is also referred to as Trevor’s Crocodile Park and is a well-liked picnic location with lovely vistas.

Achalgarh Fort- Situated about 11 kilometres north of Mount Abu. The fort was originally built by the Paramara dynasty rulers and later reconstructed, renovated and named as Achalgarh by Maharana Kumbha in 1452 CE, one of the 32 forts built during his reign. There is a famous Shiv temple, Achaleshwar Mahadev Temple within the complex of fort.

Adhar devi/ Arbuda devi temple- Situated in a cave, This Temple is one of the popular religious themed tourist destinations in the Mount Abu region. Situated three kilometers north of the main town of Mount Abu. The Adhar Devi Temple is reached by climbing up 365 stairs carved into the mountain. The temple itself is located inside a rocky cleave and is reached by crawling through a small opening into the cave.The Temple is dedicated to the Goddess Durga.

Guru Shikhar - is the highest peak of the entire Aravali Range and is located a little more than 15 km away from the city’s outskirts. Perched atop a height of 1722 mts above sea level. The views one can have from the top is something to write home about. Having the entire city spread out below your feet makes you feel like you are on top of the world. The lush greenery all around will make you fall even deeper in love with the city. Also, The temple of Dattatreya is one of the main attractions at Guru Shikhar peak other than scenic views.

Gaumukh Temple- The literal meaning of this temple is “mouth of a cow.” One needs to climb 700 steps to reach the top most section of the temple. Many interesting stories are associated with the formation of this temple. This temple is dedicated to Saint Vashishtha. It is said that Saint Vashishtha performed a Yagna at this place which created the 4 major Rajput clans. The temple and its surroundings were partially destroyed in the 1973 earthquake.

Where to eat- This restaurant in the heart of Mount Abu Market, just opposite the Nakki Lake, is a great place for vegetarian cuisine. The ambiance is well lit, airy and spacious. It can easily accommodate big family groups.
